Type B - the most sensitive type of MCB, and ideal for domestic buildings or light commercial applications. It’s designed to trip if current flowing through it hits between three and five times the rated load.
Type C - a more sensitive type of Manual Circuit Breaker best suited to commercial and industrial applications where potential power surges are likely to be higher or more frequent. It’s designed to trip at between three and five times the rated load.
Type D - the least sensitive type of MCB, and best utilised in more intensive commercial or industrial environments, where there is an increased likelihood of more frequent or exceptionally powerful power surges. Type D MCBs will trip only when the current surges to between ten and twenty times the recommended maximum.
