Prepare for New Refrigerant Regulations with Rittal Cooling Units at LED Controls

New refrigerant legislation across Europe is changing the requirements for industrial cooling systems and enclosure climate control. Ensure your system is up to code with Rittal Cooling units from LED Controls.
Lowering Global Warming Potential
New EU F-gas regulations coming into effect from January 2027 will significantly restrict the use of higher GWP (Global Warming Potential) refrigerants in cooling units and chillers. Cooling systems below 12kW will require refrigerants with a GWP below 150, while further restrictions are expected from 2032 onwards.
To support these changing requirements, Rittal has expanded the refrigerant options available within its Blue e+ climate control range. The latest Rittal cooling units are being transitioned to the low-GWP refrigerant R-1234yf, helping manufacturers future-proof their systems while maintaining international compliance standards. Just look for the R-1234yf compliance badge.

Rittal also confirms that alternative refrigerant options, including R-513A for specific applications, will remain available where documented operational requirements apply.
Saving the World with the Blue e+ S Range
Blue e+ S units are designed to provide high energy efficiency, long-term refrigerant availability and worldwide usability through UL and IEC certified designs. The low A2L refrigerant charge sizes and safety-optimised construction allow the systems to be deployed globally without additional safety measures in most applications. What about the UK and the rest of the World?
For UK applications, coolant units still need to comply with the UK F-gas regulations detailed here.
At LED Controls, we can supply the Rittal Cooling units at a range of compliance levels to support application requirements worldwide, now and into a greener future. If you're unsure about your local regulations, get in touch to discuss your options!
