Get Smart Control with the FINDER OPTA Programmable Logic Relay
What is Finder OPTA?
The Finder OPTA is not your average relay. A traditional relay is an electrically operated switch that allows one circuit to control another, commonly used in lighting, HVAC and automation. OPTA brings logic programming, allowing you to control timing and responses to inputs, manage lighting or machinery, and even connect to networks or cloud systems for remote monitoring. The OPTA combines the industrial-grade durability of traditional relays with the flexibility of a mini-PLC.
Whether you're working on industrial, OEM or building automation projects, the FINDER OPTA gives you a next-generation logic relay solution with the choice of programming model to fit your project: the open-source Arduino ecosystem or the industrial-grade CODESYS® environment.
Two Paths, One Platform
OPTA Arduino
This variant is perfect for users who are comfortable in the Arduino world or who want a quicker ramp-up with a rich ecosystem of libraries, IoT-capable features and familiar tools. It supports the Arduino IDE and also standard IEC 61131-3 languages like Ladder and FBD, making it highly flexible. The Arduino model boasts a built-in cryptochip for ultra-secure hardware connectivity and also supports OTA (Over-The-Air) firmware updates, so your control system stays future-proof.

OPTA CODESYS®
For integrators and automation engineers leaning firmly into PLC development workflows, the OPTA CODESYS version gives you all the hardware flexibility of the platform but programmed with the industry-standard CODESYS® toolchain (LD, FBD, ST, IL, SFC) for seamless integration into existing PLC ecosystems.

Which Version Should You Choose?
Here’s a quick guide to help you decide:
- If your team is comfortable working with Arduino sketches and you favour rapid prototyping, the Arduino version is a great fit.
- If you’re a control-systems engineer used to PLC workflows, visualisation tools and structured project-management, the CODESYS version is your best bet.
- In both cases you get the same premium hardware, connectivity and scalability. So your choice is really about software environment and project workflows.
- Also consider future roadmap: will your installation integrate with other PLCs or SCADA? If yes, lean CODESYS. Are you building smaller, more bespoke systems? Arduino might be faster.
Standard Features
Whichever version you go for, here's what's in store:
- Supply voltage: 12…24 V DC.
- 8 digital/analogue inputs (0-10 V) plus 4 relay outputs rated at 10 A.
- Connectivity: USB-C (for programming/data-logging), Ethernet (RJ-45), and depending on variant RS-485, WiFi and Bluetooth BLE.
- Ultra-secure hardware: includes secure element for IoT data-security and supports OTA firmware updates.
- Compact DIN-rail mount form factor, designed for high-density panels and modern control environments.
