ABB ACS580

ABB ACS580

The ABB ACS580 is a versatile all-compatible drive that's built for general-purpose duties across compressors, conveyors, mixers, pumps, centrifuges and fans. It comes with a range of key components built in as standard, so it can serve as a single package for a broad range of applications.

The ACS580 includes a C2 EMC filter, Modbus RTU, dual-channel SIL3 Safe Torque Off, and a braking chopper up to frame size R3. It also uses ABB’s patented swinging-choke technology that reduces harmonics on your supply network. Larger cabinet variants can be supplied with integrated brake choppers so that your project teams can match the stopping performance of your motors with process requirements. The drive also provides menu assistants and clear settings that can shorten commissioning and routine adjustments.

Here at LED Controls, we’re proud to be an official UK distributor of ABB, enabling us to supply the ACS580 at the very best prices. And if you need any help in choosing the right model, feel free to call 01706 242050 or email [email protected].

ABB ACS580 FAQS

What types of applications is the ABB ACS580 suitable for?

The ACS580 works well in a wide range of industrial settings, from pumps and fans to conveyors and compressors. It also offers dedicated software for certain sectors, such as food and beverage, helping to meet industry-specific requirements. This makes it a versatile choice if you’re looking for one drive platform for multiple applications. Its adaptability helps reduce the need for different drive types across a site, simplifying maintenance and reducing training requirements for teams.

How does the ACS580 help improve efficiency?

The drive features energy optimisation tools and adjustable motor load curves, allowing for better control over energy consumption. These tools help lower operating costs and improve process performance, making the ACS580 a valuable part of any efficiency-focused operation. It enables you to fine-tune motor behaviour for different loads, which reduces strain on connected equipment and helps extend its lifespan, ultimately supporting more reliable production.

What safety features does the ACS580 provide?

The ACS580 includes Safe Torque Off (SIL 3) as standard, which prevents unintended motor operation and enhances the safety of both personnel and machinery. This built-in feature reduces the need for additional external safety components, simplifying system design while maintaining a high level of protection. It also helps ensure compliance with recognised safety standards and contributes to creating safer working conditions for operators and maintenance teams.
