Typical Applications
- Enabling RSâ232 communication for UniStream controllers with serial-only devices such as scales, barâcode readers, legacy PLCs or printers
- Reliable industrial serial interface without needing a USBâtoâRSâ232 converter
- Robust isolated RSâ232 port for Modbus RTU or ASCII communication in noisy electrical environments
Installation & Wiring Notes
- Ensure the UniStream controller is powered down before installing or removing modules.
- Snap the module onto the UniâCOM⢠CB COM port located on the side of compatible UniStream units.
- Use shielded serial cable; connect the shield only at the Functional Ground terminal (pin 5).
- Follow pinâout: Pin 2 = RXD input, Pin 3 = TXD output, Pin 5 = Signal Ground (SG). Pins 6 and 7 are internally connected and unused by software.
- Install modules in environments free of conductive dust, excessive vibration or moisture; leave unused CB jacks covered to avoid ESD ingress.
