Designed to protect electrical circuits from the risk of damage caused by overcurrents, ABB’s MCCBs react almost instantaneously to interrupt current flow after a fault, minimising the risk of damage to assets and equipment while protecting the health and safety of any personnel in the vicinity.

In contrast to standard Miniature Circuit Breakers, Moulded Case Circuit Breakers feature an adjustable trip characteristic that allows them to easily deal with higher loads. MCBs are generally rated under 100 amps, with an interrupting rating of under 18,000 amps. However, the adjustable trip characteristic of an MCCB means that it can provide provide amps as high as 2500 or as low as 10, depending on the application at hand. The interrupting rating of MCCBs can be anything from around 10,000 amps, all the way up to 200,000 amps.
