What is the Pizzato HX Series?

The Pizzato HX Series is a range of stainless steel hinged safety switches designed for monitoring guards, doors and other movable machine protection. Safety switches prevent machinery from running while a panel or door is open. Instead of requiring separate hinges and switches, the HX series integrates the safety switch into the hinge itself. With an intervention point of just 1.5°, adjustable by ±1°, the HX is sensitive and fast acting, which means you, your gear and your team are safer.

Built for Harsh Environments

The Pizzato HX is manufactured from AISI 316L stainless steel, which makes for excellent corrosion resistance and cleanability. Typical applications include:

IP67 and IP69K Protection

Mechanical or Electronic Safety Options

Different machines require different approaches to safety, so Pizzato offers the HX Series with both mechanical and electronic contact blocks.

Mechanical HX Safety Switches

Two mechanical configurations are available:

  • 2NO + 2NC slow-action closer contacts with positive opening
  • 2NO + 2NC slow-action overlapped contacts with positive opening

These provide a straightforward mechanical safety switching solution for machine guard monitoring.

Electronic HX Safety Switch

For applications requiring an electronic safety architecture, an electronic version of the HX is also available.

This provides:

  • 2 PNP safety outputs
  • 1 PNP auxiliary output
  • 2 PNP safety inputs

The electronic HX has a redundant internal structure and can achieve Category 4, PL e and SIL 3. Multiple HX hinged safety switches can also be connected in series while maintaining PL e, provided they are connected to an appropriate Pizzato Elettrica safety module that monitors their correct operation.

The electronic Pizzato HX also features four status indicator LEDs, with each one assigned a specific signalling function so you can quickly identify errors or circuit breaks.

Flexible Installation

Options include:

  • Rear cable connection
  • Rear cable with M12 connector
  • 1.5° intervention point
  • Intervention point adjustment of ±1°
  • Laser product marking
