LED Controls at Burnley Business Week 2026

LED Controls were out and about in the local area last week, taking part in Burnley Business Week 2026. We joined businesses from around Burnley for a load of practical workshops, expert insight and networking chat.

Running from 21 to 25 September, Burnley Business Week brought together local companies of all shapes and sizes for sessions covering artificial intelligence, leadership, digital marketing, social media, cyber security and much more.

Exploring AI and Business Automation

The week began at Burnley College, with the Turn Time into Profit with AI session. Delivered by Mark Edwards and James Stott from Burnley-based tech specialists Seriun, the workshop explored practical ways businesses can use artificial intelligence to reduce repetitive tasks, improve efficiency and free up time for higher-value work.

Interactive AI Session at Burnley Business Week 2026

As a supplier of industrial controls and factory automation solutions, we are always looking for ways to simplify admin processes and free up our Sales Team to deal with customers directly. The idea that A.I. won't take your job, it will simply make your job more efficient was the optimistic takeaway from the session!

Also Matt won a brolly. Which was nice.

Developing Leadership Skills

Monday afternoon brought the Leading People Well session. A workshop focused on effective leadership, communication, team development and creating a positive working environment.

For a growing business such as LED Controls, sessions like this are invaluable, and essential to our belief that, even though we deal in technology, the most important components of any system are the people running it.

Building a Stronger LinkedIn Presence

Linkedin for Business Growth at Burnley Business Week 2026

Later in the week, we sat in on Raise Your Profile: LinkedIn for Business Growth, headed up by Tom Stables. The session covered how businesses can use LinkedIn more effectively, from improving profiles and setting clear objectives to creating useful content, increasing visibility and understanding return on investment. Turns out leaving an applause emoji on a few new job announcements doesn't count as social media marketing!

Make sure you follow us on LinkedIn to see if we've learned anything. Our Paul didn't win “Strongest Community Presence” for nowt.

There were also dinosaurs. But that's largely irrelevant.

Improving Marketing with Canva and Social Media

Thursday was another busy day, with two workshops at Burnley College. The first, Canva for Business: Create Your Own Professional Marketing Materials, was a great kick-starter for the design platform, and taught us how to use templates and photos to create our own business cards and posters. So you can expect our digital and print graphic output to jump up a notch from now on.

How to Turn Social Media into Sales

Thursday afternoon was a lesson in How to Turn Social Media into Sales from Elevated Socials, a sterling session looking at profile optimisation, purposeful content, effective calls to action and developing a clearer journey from follower to customer. So if you suddenly find yourself in possession of a Variable Speed Drive after reading one of our LinkedIn posts, you know who to blame!

Cyber Security for Modern Businesses

Friday brought LED Controls' Burnley Business Week programme to a close with Cyber Security in Action: Protect Your Burnley Business, held at The Landmark in Burnley.

The workshop was put together by heavy-hitters from the North West Cyber Resilience Centre, Bandicoot, Lancashire Constabulary and the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit, so you know we were in safe hands! The interactive session covered topics including how to spot phishing and social engineering scams, personal and business data protection, and effective incident response and recovery procedures. It was very useful to hear directly from cyber security professionals on practical methods to protect our business on the day-to-day in an increasingly digital world!

LED Controls and the Burnley Business Community

Burnley Business Week came at an ideal time for LED Controls as we continue to enjoy a deeper involvement with businesses and organisations across Burnley and Lancashire, sharing ideas and learning from the considerable expertise knocking about the area.

Over the week, the sessions were varied and practical, with useful lessons to take back to work in our corner of Burnley Business, distributing Factory Automation and Industrial Control equipment! Thank you to everyone who presented, attended and contributed to Burnley Business week, and to Leane Kelly, Jo Norwood and their team at Burnley Borough Council for sticking the whole thing together.
